PRINCE2® - The Seven Principals
Seven Processes of PRINCE2®
The seven processes that are associated with PRINCE2® are :
- Starting up a Project
- During this stage, the project team is created and its roles and responsibilities are specified. Targets to be met are also declared to the team members.
- Initiating a Project
- From the start-up process, the outputs are taken as inputs to preparing documents that will be required in the forthcomng stages / processes during the project.
- Directing a Project
- This is the responsibility of the Project Board who must authorize the start stage of the project. It is during this process that the Board can authorise any old or existing plans to be overriden by new ones.
- Controlling a Stage
- According to PRINCE2® , big projects can be broken down into smaller ones and in this way can be handled better. It is at this stage that the decision to handle each of the modules is taken.
- Managing Product Delivery
- This is one of the important processes as it helps to establish a link between the Project Manager and Team Managers
- Managing a Stage Boundary
- As opposed to the Control Stage , which states that what should be done, the Managing State Boundaries process dictates what should be done towards the end of the each stage
- Closing a Project
- This is the last stage of the project and the works to decommission the project are all covered in this stage.
